GIF Mania is a free party game built for exactly the ten minutes your team needs to stop being a meeting: a question goes up on the shared screen, everyone answers with the perfect GIF from their phone, and the room votes for the winner.

The icebreaker that doesn't feel like one
No trivia, no forced fun, no "two truths and a lie." You write the questions — "Monday standup, as a GIF", "how the demo actually went" — or hit Surprise me and get a ready-made pack. Each round takes about a minute: answer, vote, podium. Nobody has to be funny out loud; the GIFs do the talking, and the voting is anonymous, so the intern can beat the VP with zero politics.
Remote: it runs on a shared screen
Playing over Zoom, Meet or Teams: share the game window, and it becomes the game show everyone's watching. Players join from their phones with a PIN — the call keeps carrying faces and laughter while the phones carry the answers. There's no bot to invite and nothing for IT to approve: it's a web page.
In the room: one TV, everyone's phones
For office game hour, put the stage on the meeting-room TV — players scan the QR code and the room does the rest. Half the team remote, half in the room? The stage can be on the TV and in the call at once.
Why GIFs beat trivia for team building
Trivia crowns whoever happens to know things; buzzer quizzes crown whoever's fastest. A GIF question has no right answer — it levels seniority, tenure and native language, and it produces the thing team building is actually for: your team laughing at the same thing at the same time. Do players need an app or an account?
No — players open a link on their phone, type the PIN, pick a name. Only the host has an account.
Is it really free?
Yes — hosting is free and playing is free, for the whole team.
Does it work over Zoom / Google Meet / Teams?
Yes. Share the game window in the call; players answer and vote from their phones. Any video tool that can share a screen works.
Is the content safe for work?
You write the questions, so that part's on you. For the GIFs, turn on kid-friendly mode when creating the game — every player's search then runs on the strictest content filter. It makes a solid office-safe mode.
How long does a game take?
A bit over a minute per question plus the ceremony — an eight-question game lands around 10 minutes.
Can hybrid teams play — some remote, some in the room?
Yes. The stage can be a meeting-room TV, a shared window in the call, or both at once; every player joins from their own phone either way.
